Upcoming Annorlunda Books Releases in 2016

We have three exciting new acquisitions to announce, all of which will be released in 2016:

Don’t Call It Bollywood, by Margaret Redlich: A novella length non-fiction book that introduces the reader to the world of Hindi film. Redlich summarizes the history, themes, and artistic frame of Hindi film, interspersed with reflections on her own path to becoming a dedicated fan. If all you know about Hindi film is that there are a lot of song and dance numbers, this book will open your eyes to a rich and rewarding art form. If you’re already a fan, you can revisit some of your favorite film moments and learn more about the history and context of these films.

Academaze, by Sydney Phlox: A collection of essays on life in academia. Phlox, a pseudonymous professor in a physical science field at a major US research institution, opens with a discussion of why she loves her job and then takes the reader through the maze of tenure track life, from the job search through the research, teaching, and service that form the academic’s job, to the quest for work-life balance and the unique challenges faced by women in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Written in an engaging style, this book provides an “insider’s guide” to the tenure track and beyond in STEM.

The Lilies of Dawn, by Vanessa Fogg: A fantasy novelette set in a fictional village whose very existence is threatened by an annual visit from a flock of mysterious cranes. Fogg builds an intriguing and believable world, and gives us a protagonist who is unsure of her place in the world, but finds her strength as she struggles to save her village. This beautifully written story reminds us that our most important qualities are not always the ones we recognize in ourselves.

Watch for cover reveal posts for these books. We’re also busy reading classic short stories, looking for the stories for our next “taster flight,” to join Missed Chances and Love and Other Happy Endings, so watch for an announcement of that new book, as well. Better yet, sign up for our mailing list so that you can be sure you won’t miss any new releases!
